Nigeria's gospel music community is mourning the death of Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.
His family confirmed that the gospel singer died in the early hours of October 14. A cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
Toluwanisings built a following through energetic praise music and Yoruba-influenced contemporary gospel.
His recordings included songs such as Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo, Unreserved Praise, A Very Big God, Onibuore and Eleda.
His musical journey began in church and eventually developed into a professional ministry that connected traditional Nigerian praise influences with contemporary gospel production.
The singer had also survived a serious road accident in July involving his music crew. He later shared images of the damaged vehicle on social media.
His death has already affected scheduled gospel events.
Several organisers have cancelled or postponed programmes as a mark of respect, including the Invasion Praise Concert.
Toluwanisings leaves behind a wife and two children.
Music Desk: His contribution will be remembered not simply through the songs he recorded, but through the community of listeners and fellow musicians he influenced.
