Funmi Afolayan, crooner of award-winning Oruko Oluwa, who made her debut in the gospel music scene in 2021, is set to release a new track titled Ẹbọ Ọpẹ́ (Sacrifice of Thanks).
While introducing the track, Funmi Afolayan took inspiration from Psalms 50:14-15, which says: “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
Funmi Afolayan adds that gratitude glorifies God, and as Christians we should salute not the gifts, but the Giver. This is because gratitude helps us realize that everything we have belongs to God, not from us.
According to her, giving thanks to God has a lovely cycle: the more we thank Him, the more we see Him at work in and around us. We can feel God's presence, personal care, and perfect timing when we are grateful.
“To this effect, I am singing a song of Thanksgiving to my helper, my creator, my father,” Afolayan said.
“I respectfully ask you to join me on this journey of thankfulness to the Almighty God for all He has done, is doing, and will continue to do,” she added.
The song will be released on January 1st, and it is expected to bless Gospel music fans in 2023 and beyond.
In the course of her gospel music career, Funmi Afolayan headlined the Awesome Gospel Concert in May 2022.
She has also shared stage with prominent gospel artistes like Mama fasoyin, Yetunde are, Babatunmise, Bois Olorun and other prominent ministers.
