The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) has returned to Lagos for its fifteenth edition, running from 1 to 7 November 2026.
This year's theme, Frames of the Future: Africa's Creative Intelligence, focuses on the changing relationship between African storytelling, technology, film production and the global creative economy.
The festival brings together filmmakers, actors, producers, screenwriters, distributors, investors and other professionals from across Africa and beyond.
Its programme includes film screenings, masterclasses, workshops, networking opportunities and the Africa Film & Content Market.
The market runs from 2 to 5 November at Twinwaters, Lekki, providing an opportunity for producers and industry professionals to explore financing, distribution and co-production opportunities.
Among the announced masterclass contributors are Richard Mofe-Damijo, Femi Adebayo and Obinna Okerekeocha.
AFRIFF is important because African cinema requires more than creative talent. It also needs financing, distribution networks, professional training and international commercial partnerships.
Why the festival matters: A stronger African film industry can create employment, strengthen cultural identity, support tourism and give African stories a larger international audience.
