Bradford African Festival of Arts (BAFA) 2026 is set to return with an exciting week-long celebration of African culture, creativity, heritage, and community. Running from 3rd to 9th August 2026, this year's festival embraces the inspiring theme "NKOSOO – Advancement and Progress," bringing together artists, performers, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, fashion designers, and families for seven unforgettable days across some of Bradford's most iconic venues.

A Week of Culture, Creativity and Connection
This year's programme has been carefully designed to celebrate Africa's rich heritage while showcasing innovation and cultural exchange.
Day 1 – Monday, 3 August
Opening Ceremony, Cultural Workshop & Art Exhibition The festival begins with a vibrant opening ceremony featuring cultural performances, inspiring speeches, interactive workshops, and exhibitions by talented African artists.

African Film Festival Experience outstanding films from Africa and the African diaspora, celebrating powerful storytelling, creativity, and diverse voices from across the globe.

Theatre and Stage Play Enjoy captivating theatrical performances that explore African history, traditions, identity, and contemporary experiences through drama and live performance.

Fashion and Pageantry Witness stunning collections from talented fashion designers alongside pageantry that celebrates elegance, culture, and African-inspired creativity.

African Open Market Day Explore a vibrant marketplace featuring African fashion, crafts, beauty products, food, artwork, and handmade goods while supporting local businesses.

African Open Market & Outdoor Festival The celebrations continue with live music, dance performances, cultural displays, family entertainment, food vendors, and community activities in the heart of Bradford.
