Treasures in the Closet.....
Matthew 6:6
Our Lord does not mean to exclude and condemn public prayer;The specific ancient Greek word “room” was used for a storeroom where treasures were kept. This reminds us that there are treasures waiting for us in our prayer closet.
Jesus certainly did not prohibit public prayer, but our prayers should always be directed to God and not towards man.
Prayer is the most secret intercourse of the soul with God, and as it were the conversation of one heart with another.
Prayer is intimate communion with our heavenly Father, and before engaging in public prayer with others, we should establish a closeness with God through privately meeting Him, in the quiet solitude of our own prayer 'closet' - wherever that may be.
