Police uncover Badoo shrine, arrest traditional ruler over killings

By Odita Sunday

The alleged Badoo shrine
Following the gruesome murder of four family members at Ibeshe, Ikorodu on Sunday, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested the Baale of Ipakodo, a town on the outskirt of Ikorodu and the three others.
The command also uncovered a  shrine in the area believed to be the domain of the dreaded Badoo cult group.
The operation which was carried out in the early hours of Monday was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Imohinmi Edgal.
The police operatives also arrested the operator of the shrine, one Alhaji Alaka Abayomi. Other suspects arrested are Junior Christian and Owoyemi Bamidele.

A source said the Baale, Alhaji Tijani Awoyemi, was arrested for allowing his domain to be used as a den for ritual shrines.
According to the source, "We have arrested the owner of the shrines in the thick forest of Agboowa, Ikorodu. We have also arrested three others, including the operator of the shrines. They are the major suspects in yesterday's incident.
"The obas in Ikorodu area should know that their exalted office has privileges and responsibilities. They have subjects within their domain. They should compel their subjects to about new people moving into their area. The activities of Badoo is an internal crime. No one would come from outside to wreck havoc in Ikorodu because the area has been cordoned off by the police.
"The traditional rulers would sit down and watch people being killed in their domain and they won't say anything. They should discourage their subjects from building inside the bush and living there."
Some police operatives accused the Oba of Imota of opposing police lofty plan of engaging local vigilante in the area.
"The Imota monarch is fond of attacking us and criticising us for using local vigilante and OPC to police that interior area and we are disappointed by this action." The source said.
It was gathered that 5 graves were uncovered inside the shrine. Also sighted were baskets, broken eggs and other fetish items.
The command boss, Fatai Owoseni reiterated his earlier warning to Lagos residents against living in isolated and unsafe areas where they might be vulnerable to attacks by hoodlums and cultists.
The Police Public Relations Officer, in Lagos, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) said in a statement that the warning became necessary in view of hoodlums who might take advantage of such isolated areas to attack innocent people.
“A murder incident was reported during the early hours of Sunday, July 30 where police operatives of the Lagos State Command responded to a distress call at Oke Ota, Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
“Mobilising to the scene, police operatives found it extremely difficult to locate the house which was situated in a thick forest where it is remotely impossible for anybody to identify a dwelling house in the area.
“Eventually arriving at the scene on foot, the house is just a room and parlour with one open window and no visible form of security.
“There, a family of five was attacked and three died on the spot while one died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
"The last member is alive and responding to treatment," the police spokesperson said.
He urged community leaders to identify persons staying in isolated areas which are no longer safe to come and report to the police.
“This should be done in order to stop people from moving into an unsecured area without proper social structures.
“The command also wishes to inform members of the public to come forward with useful information to aid the police and not resort to jungle justice as the investigation is ongoing,” the command said.

Ladies: See Another Types Of Men Who Are Most Likely To Cheat

Every woman interested in not having her heartbroken must take a look at these interesting list of men who are likely to cheat.
Being cheated on is never fun, it’s a fact of life. Fortunately, because it’s been happening since the dawn of humanity, we’re getting pretty good at identifying cheaters.

Here’s a roundup of research that has looked into which types of men are the most likely to cheat on their partners.

Tall men
A 2014 study by Illicit Encounters found that taller men are more likely to cheat. Men who are over 5ft 10, in fact, were found to be twice as likely to cheat than someone under that height. Why? Apparently because they have more confidence, stemming from the fact they know a lot of women prefer taller men.
Men aged 29, 39, 49 and so on…
A study in 2015 by Proceedings of the Natural Academy of Sciences found that people “search for meaning” when they’re approaching a new decade of their lives. This, apparently, includes having an affair.
Men who play team sports
Recent research suggests men who play team sports are most likely to use that as a cover-up when they’re cheating. Rugby players were found to be the worst culprits.
Men who work in finance
Bankers and brokers are most likely to be unfaithful, according to a poll by dating website Victoria Milan of more than 5,000 women. The women were all cheating on their partner, so the research was based on women only – but still, it’s something to bear in mind.

Men with facial hair
A survey by the Eva video social network surveyed men and found that those with facial hair are more likely to cheat (as well as steal).
Tattooed men
Men with tattoos are more likely to be unfaithful, according to another study by Victoria Milan. They asked more than three million men across 15 countries, and found that those with more ink are more likely to stray.

Comedians are musicians and actors now! 5 Nigerian comedians that changing the face of comedy in Nigeria

In a world of one too many challenges, problems, and bad news, laughter is one of the free things that keep us going. Thanks to our eccentric comedians, getting yourself laughing to tears is not so much of a problem. They painstakingly come up with the sickest jokes and present it on stage and through whatever possible platform they can find, for the benefits of their audiences.
This they do for money, of course – comedy is good business. However, just as growth and evolution is taking place in other businesses and industries, the comedy world isn’t left out at all. When they started, they were regarded as jesters and clowns. Later on, they were widely accepted as comedians, and today, they have gone along to become musicians, actors, and even dancers. Comedy is now being redefined and certain Nigerian entertainers are now taking over.
Here is a rundown of some comedians who are not necessarily performing on stage but make us laugh our socks off.

. Ay
Ayo Makun is a multi-award-winning Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and T.V presenter, actor, writer, director and MC. He is one of the comedians in Nigeria that has given comedy a different face. A Trip to Jamaica, 30 days in Atlanta, and 10 days in Sun City, are just some of the movies he has created. While he still makes us laugh, he barely climbs the stage again. He just does it through his movies instead.
  • Funke Akindele
REVEALED!! The Private Life of Funke Akindele - Her Early Life, Career, family and Marriage (PHOTOS)
Funke Akindele is another comedian that has made us laugh without having to be on stage. While she had never been a stand-up comedian, Funke and her alias/alter ego, ‘Jenifa’, have created such magic in comedy and we are so thankful for it. Thanks to her series that runs on tv stations, we can sit down and watch her from the comfort of our homes and laugh away.
  • Falz
Falz the Bahd Guy is not exactly a comedian, but I bet he has made every one of us laugh at a certain period of time or the other. Through his funny accent, his funny Instagram skits, and even his songs, he does not hesitate to give us a good laugh. It is certainly good that he didn’t follow his career to becoming a lawyer.
  • EmmaOhMyGod
Emmaohmygod is another hilarious individual who has changed the face of comedy as we know it in Nigeria. He is a multi-talented musician, comedian, singer and song writer. From remixing songs to dropping hilarious skits, he carries out his own comedic skills. He has even gone ahead to star in movies
  • Emmanuella
Emmanuella is the little girl that has made us laugh our problems away. Herself and her gang, produce videos on social media and basically just put their hearts into making us laugh. They have gone ahead to run adverts for companies and have even made a lot of money in the process.

You think you know him?? These are the Things you probably didn’t know about Falz the Bad Guy

The all-talented musician with great swag and humour, Falz the Bad guy, is actually a whole lot more than we know. Born as Folarin Falana on 27th October 1990, he has become an impressive Nigerian musician and the founder of Bahd Guy Records.
He also holds an honours degree in LLB law. Born and raised in Lagos Nigeria, Falz has managed to stand out in his music career. He is also known for his funny skits “Ello Bae”
Beyond his swag and funny sense of humour, Falz has other things that are seemingly unbelievable.

1. He is a very shy person!
Regardless of the fact that he is always in the lime light and in different shows; Falz is a very shy person. He claims to be very uncomfortable in the spotlight but he however uses his alter ego “Uncle Taju” when he is on stage. But, when he is off stage is very shy.falz
  • He is not a comedian
Falz, who is loved for his social media funny skit ‘ello bae’ says that he is not a comedian. Even though his Ello Bae skits get every average Nigerian laughing especially with his funny Yoruba accent, Falz has more passion for acting “I have a passion for film, so acting is something I would probably do sooner than later. I plan to have my own TV show.” It is no wonder why he has been acting with Funke Akindele in Jenifas diary.
  • He has a clothing line
As seen in his dressings, Falz has an impeccable sense of style. One would think that being a lawyer he would always be corporately dressed. However, his sense of fashion and style has gone beyond just himself. After his hit single in 2014 “Elllo Bae”, Falz started a clothing line and named it Ello Bae. His clothing line is currently doing well in the market.

  • He had a band in secondary school
In His secondary school days, before Falz became successful in the music industry; Falz was in a boy band in 2009. His band was named “The School Boys” and they took the music serious since he released some compilation of their recordings t!tled “Shakara: The Mixtape”.
  • He keeps his private life, very privateFalz has been very successful so far in making sure he doesn’t mix pleasure with work. He has managed to keep his relationship and private life private. There have been numerous guesses and rumours on who he is really in a relationship with. He was once rumoured to be dating one of Wizkid’s exes and he is said to also have feelings for the popular musician Simi. But no one can really point out who the rapper is with.
  • BAHD is an acronym
His stage name Falz the Bahd Guy is actually an acronym. Falz was deduced from his last name and BAHD Guy is a t!tle and acronym that means Brilliant And Highly Distinct.

Funke Akindele’s husband explains reason why Toyosi left Jenifa’s diary and why Moe Musa left his house

Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, husband of Funke Akindele has explained the reason why Toyosi left Jenifa’s diary, while also dismissing suggestion that his cousin, Moe Musa’s left his house to his actress wife.
“Moe has been in Nigeria then for almost six months, so he felt it was time to get his own place. To be honest, when you first relocate to Nigeria, you’ll find it very hard to stay alone because you don’t understand the system yet.
“The way things work in Nigeria is different from the way it works in other countries. Moe stayed with me for a while, so he could get used to the Nigerian system, how to get food, how Generator works and other confusing stuffs,” JJC Skillz said in his account of what led to Moe leaving his house.

He also debunked report linking him to the breakup between his wife and Toyosi, a character in Akindele’s comedy series, Jenifa Diary.
According to him, “I don’t know why Toyosi left and it has nothing to do with me. Just like any character in a TV series, she can go and return. The only permanent character in the series is Jenifa. Falz has gone and came back; Toyosi has gone and maybe will come back. Toyosi has gone, now she’s back.

“In the script, Toyosi is married and has gone to France with her husband to live for a while. So, anything can happen. When she comes back, you’d see her on screen, if not, then that’s what the script said.” (Culled from InformationNg)

How JJC Skillz Met Funke Akindele In 2013 – MUST READ

Nigerian Rapper and video director Abdul Rasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz and husband of award-winning actress Funke Akindele Bello disclosed how he met his wife, his career, and family life in an interview with Nigerian Tribune‘s Newton-Ray Ukwuoma,
He also disclosed that his music is on hold as he is focusing on his movie directing career with two major productions Jenifa’s Diary and Industreet.
See excerpts:

What are the challenges of film production, directing?
It hasn’t been easy, but God has been there for us.All I can say is he who findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtained favour from the Lord. Most times, as a single man you carry almost all your burdens alone. You’d have to worry about what you eat, and my cooking skillz it’s not really that fantastic.  But when I found my wife, I knew I had found my better-half. Now, when I think about things, I share it all with my wife. We wake up from same bed in morning and head to our field, because we are both in entertainment. She’s the actress, script writer. I’m the director, editor. She’s very hard working. I don’t know anyone like us in this industry. She works day and night. We wake up every single day, with the mind set of making ourselves happy. So, challenges are nothing to me anymore.
As busy as you have described your wife and as budding as your skills are in cooking, how does your wife still have time to cook for you? Or doesn’t she?
Why not? Yes, she does. It is said that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Definitely, she cooks amazingly, but I told her to stop, so she can get enough rest. Most times, she would insist, because she wants to take care of her man. But I always insist, as we now have chefs.

Was it her cooking skillz that attracted you to her?
My wife is a fantastic cook, she’s an amazing woman. Everything about her attracted me to her. It’s not only one thing that attracts a man to a woman, but definitely, the cooking is a plus and my wife has it all. I would want to eat her meals for the rest of my life.
So, how does it feel being married to a popular actress?
To be honest, I lived the better part of my life in the UK, so I didn’t really know who Funke Akindele was. When I met her, I just met someone that wanted a director for her TV show; Jenifa’s Diary. That was in 2013. We have been going on for a long time, people just found out in 2016. We were very low keyed, because we are two popular people in the entertainment industry. We had to protect our privacy.
How did you meet Funke Akindele?

She wanted someone to direct her TV series, then I was about to embark on recording the JJC album then. Her sister introduced us, because she knew I was into music video directing. So, when I met her, she told me she did a movie sometime ago and would like to turn it into a TV series. We started working together and preparing for the shoot, then one thing led to another. Here we are today, the rest is history. We just clicked.
It sounds like love at first sight.
Well, I would say so, because first time I saw her, I was wowed. She also told me the same thing. We tried to keep the whole work as professional as possible but along the line, emotions ran high.
How was the proposal? Bank W’s style?
[Laughs] I’m a romantic person, so I gave her a dose of it. It wasn’t in an open place, because only very few people knew at then. So, that very day, she came home to meet flowers, candles everywhere; quite a romantic set up. When she saw it, she had no choice than to say ‘Yes’.

You are both celebrities, how do you succeed in maintaining your private life?
Private life, work life, we take it all one day at a time. We don’t worry about outsiders and what they would think, we just do what pleases us. Every single day, we say our prayers and talk about how the day would go. It’s quite a unique and complimentary relationship and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
During the Hallelujah Challenge, you received a prophecy of a twin birth. Are you expectant?
Yes. Soon! God’s time is the best. We are working on it.

How did your kids accept their new step mum?

Well, before we got married in London, we all had a good relationship here in Nigeria. The kids were always seeing this beautiful woman around daddy, and she always makes him happy. They might be away and in different continents, but they are part of our daily activities. She is also very close to them, they met her digital first. They didn’t know she is an actress then, because in the UK, they hardly watch Nigerian movies, but they love her so much. They all love each other. It’s a perfect blend.
I remember my daughter telling me, ‘Dad make sure you marry her. She’s a keeper’. And I did, I followed my daughter’s advice. One of my songs, Save The Last Dance’ was written for my wife, she really saved the last dance for me.

Okra can lead to infertility in men, Medical Researcher warns

Okra, though very nutritious, can lead to infertility in men of reproductive age, Dr Ochuko Erikainure, a Senior Research Officer at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos, has warned.

Erukainure, also a nutritionist and biochemist, gave the warning on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on in Lagos.

According to him, too much consumption of okra, especially its seeds can lead to infertility in men of reproductive age.

An online publication, says Okra, known in many English-speaking countries as lady’s fingers, is a flowering plant in the mallow family.
“Okra is an annual herb that is widely cultivated for its edible green seed pods in tropical, subtropical and warm temperate climates.

“Okra is a hardy plant that can grow even with less water and in hot conditions.’’

Erukainure said that okra has a unique substance called “GOSSYPOL”.

“Gossypol inhibits sperm production and motility by blocking several enzymes that are highly important in energy metabolism in sperm and sperm producing cells.

“Okra seeds are very rich in toxic pigment called Gossypol which promote infertility in men by arresting sperm production (spermatogenesis) even at lower dose.

“Gossypol are oil soluble and natural polyphenol secreted by plants as a defence against predators,’’ he said.

The senior researcher said that in some countries, okra seeds were, however, used for natural contraceptive for men.

“Due to proapoptotic activities in okra seeds (it means killing of cells), gossypol is still under investigation as a possible anticancer agent,” he said.

The nutritionist said that in spite of its effects in men, consumption of okra could be of health benefits to the diabetes, obesity or overweight people.

“Okra is very high in dietary fibres, reduce calories intakes into the body, ability to limit nitric oxide build up in the blood and lipid (fat) and reduces the risks of cancers.

“Okra is an African vegetable that has been a staple of African and Indian cuisine for many years, and also used for medicinal purposes.

“The health benefits of okra can be attributed to its nutritional and phytochemical constituents making it a vital crop.

“One hundred grammes of okra has been reported to meet over 20 per cent of the daily values which the body needs.

“It contains a rare combination of carbohydrates, vegetables, minerals and vitamins.

“Not less than 10 different vitamins and minerals can be found in okra such as vitamin A, which is great for the skin, vitamin C and E which prevent cell damage in the body,’’ he said.

Erukainure said because “okra is high in fibre, it has positive impact on digestive system which assist with gastrointestinal difficulties.

“Including okra in our daily diet along with physical healthy exercise routine will prevent and treat diabetes, meaning that okra plant contributes to a more active lifestyle”.

Erukainure said that okra has been identified to have insulin-like activity in experimented animals.

“It is also a potent anti-diabetic source, which can be attributed to its chemical constituents,’’ he said

The amazing couple-duo has stormed the world with the official release of their new single STILL ON TOP MY MATTER

"Still on top my matter" is a powerful song of praise, it is a profound testimony of God's grace and power in our lives.

The title first dropped on a thanksgiving sunday. Someone was sharing her testimony and as she mentioned "God is still on my matter", something stirred up in me and that was how the inspiration was birthed!
However, the full song was composed after a prayer session, the song is an expression of the Holy Spirit helping us to appreciate God for the great and mighty things he has done.

And just when we thought that was all, they doubled the storm with another release of the lyrics video of another awesome song titled, HE REIGNS !
